Purchased a new WagonR recently? Does it have the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine? If yes, then you must read on. Maruti Suzuki has initiated a voluntary recall for 40,618 units for the tallboy hatchback. The number comprises of only those units which were manufactured between November 15, 2018, and August 12, 2019. Reason? The company wants to inspect for a possible issue of fuel hose fouling with the metal clamp.

Needless to say, the whole process of inspection and rectification (if required) will be carried out at no cost to the customer. The whole process should not take too long. Maruti Suzuki advises owners of WagonRs, which fall under the above-mentioned umbrellas, to check whether their vehicle is part of the recall or not online. This can be done by feeding in the chassis number, which begins with MA3 and is followed by a 14-digit alphanumeric string, on the company’s website. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and can also be found on the purchase invoice as well as the registration certificate.

If, for some reason, you can’t do all of the above, worry not. From August 24, 2019, Maruti Suzuki dealers will start reaching out to owners of affected vehicles. Since it is a safety-related recall, it is advisable to get the inspection and replacement done at the earliest. Maruti Suzuki hasn’t reported any incident where the fault has led to some mishappening.

The all-new WagonR was launched in January this year. Less than two months later, the company introduced CNG variants for the hatchback. And, in mid-2019, all WagonR variants powered by the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine were upgraded to meet the Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) levels of emission norms.
