Hyundai Motor India has announced that its first-ever sub-4 metre SUV, the Venue, has received 50,000 bookings within sixty days of its launch. Official bookings for the Venue had commenced on May 2, 2019. The model, which was launched on May 21, 2019, surpassed the 17,000 bookings-mark before the same month came to a close. In June 2019, the company confirmed that the Venue had bagged more than 33,000 bookings since launch.

Till date, the company has delivered 18,000 units of Venue across India. More than 55 per cent of that lot are variants which have Hyundai’s BlueLink tech. Hyundai has also confirmed that out of the total bookings received so far, over 35 per cent are for the DCT-equipped versions. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available only with the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 118hp/172Nm. This engine-transmission combination is available in the S and SX trim levels only. As far as the convenience of BlueLink is concerned, it is offered in SX (only with DCT) and SX (O) trim levels only.

The Venue is also available with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines from the Elite i20. While the former produces 83PS/115Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT, the latter generates 90PS/220Nm and comes with a 6-speed MT. If one doesn’t fancy the DCT option, the 1.0-litre mill can also be had with a 6-speed MT.

With the Venue, Hyundai introduced a number of segment-first features. Apart from the connected-car features, the list includes projector fog lamps, a built-in air purifier, wireless mobile charger and an 8.0-inch, HD-resolution touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features available on the Venue include an electric sunroof, cruise control, a cooled glovebox, up to six airbags, automatic headlamps, rear parking sensors with camera and 16-inch alloy wheels.

In India, the Hyundai Venue competes with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300. The sub-4 metre SUV space also has two more Mahindra models – the Bolero Power+ and the TUV300.
