The Venue is, by far and away, the most important product for Hyundai in India this year. Launched on May 21, 2019, it became the first-ever sub-4 metre SUV from the South Korean carmaker. Bookings for it officially commenced on May 2, 2019, and while it garnered 2,000 tokens in one day, it has bagged more than 17,000 of them till date. Hyundai also claims that over 80,000 prospective customers have shown interest in the Venue.

Here’s what Vikas Jain, who is the national sales head at Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said about the Venue’s impact:

Hyundai Venue is the Talk of the Town as our dealerships are witnessing highest-ever traction and footfalls. We are overwhelmed with the response as customers are spending maximum time inside the cabin experiencing the new technology and connectivity features. Hyundai Venue is paving the path of future and connected mobility solutions in India and we further thank our customers for choosing a Happy Life with Venue.

As has become the norm these days, the Venue also brings a number of segment-first features. The list includes a built-in air purifier, wireless mobile charger, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display with HD resolution, projector fog lamps, Hyundai’s BlueLink tech which brings a bunch of ‘Connected Car’ features and a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The debuting gearbox is only available with a debuting engine – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol which is good for 120PS/172Nm. The said engine can also be had with a 6-speed manual transmission. Other engine-transmission options include a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/115Nm) with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.4-litre diesel mill (90PS/220Nm) with a 6-speed manual unit. Mileage figures are impressive too – 1.2 petrol-MT: 17.52kmpl; 1.4-litre diesel-MT: 23.7kmpl; 1.0-litre petrol-MT: 18.27kmpl; and 1.0-litre petrol-AT: 18.15kmpl.
