When was the last time you read an article, and it had no mention of the COVID-19 outbreak? Tough to recall, right? Well, that stands true for everyone regardless of the topics we follow. Well, there’s nothing different about this story either, except for some numbers and a few facts that Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has shared.

With India slowing getting back into the groove, so is the Indian arm of the South Korean carmaker. The company has announced that a total of 806 showrooms, including rural sales outlets, and 863 workshops are now open for business. Complying with the Government’s guidelines, all touchpoints are practising two activities – social distancing and regular sanitation.

Do you want to play with more numbers? Okay. In the last 22 days, HMIL bagged close to 9,000 new bookings and delivered 5,600 cars to customers. On the service front, it surpassed the 1 lakh vehicles-mark in the current month. That number comes from 530 cities across the length and breadth of the country. As for the production, that resumed on May 8, 2020.

Like other players, Hyundai has also taken advantage of digital platforms to empower existing as well as prospective customers. Those who fall in the former space can opt for online service booking through Hyundai Care App, get vehicle status updates via WhatsApp, avail pick and drop from home/office and make payments online. And those who are planning to purchase a new Hyundai can opt for remote car demonstrations through video conferencing, complete the buying process online (including paperwork) and get home delivery of the car.

Earlier this month, Hyundai introduced a slew of customised financing schemes which can potentially help reduce the immediate burden on car buyers. Hyundai is also offering to cover a couple of EMIs on the buyer’s behalf.
