Skoda Diwas ki sabko hardik shubhkaamnaye. That’s Hindi for Happy Skoda Day, everyone! Today, the Czech brand revealed the prices for not one or two, but three of its models – the Rapid, Superb facelift and the Karoq. The least expensive of the lot, the Rapid, gains BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) badge by borrowing the powertrain from the Volkswagen Vento. In the refreshed form, the Superb is petrol-only, and so is the newcomer Karoq. Here’s how the price list looks like:

Rapid

The sedan comes with a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 108bhp/175Nm. As of now, the only transmission it comes with is a 6-speed manual. Mileage: 18.97kmpl. Skoda should introduce the option of an automatic gearbox at a later stage, considering what the competition, including the Vento, has in their arsenal. In terms of kit, the Rapid comes with stuff like an 8.0-inch infotainment system, rear-view camera, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Karoq

It is essentially a Volkswagen T-Roc in a different dress. That means both models share the platform, kit and the powertrain. Powering the Karoq is a 1.5-litre TSI motor that pumps out 148bhp/250Nm, while a 7-speed DSG handles transmission duties. Mileage: 16.95kmpl. The sprint from nothing to 100kmph takes 9 seconds, and the top speed is 202kmph. In the features department, the Skoda’s new SUV comes with gizmos such as dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, nine airbags and cruise control.

Superb facelift

It looks good! And, like the Rapid, it has ditched diesel power in the BS6 era. Both variants come with the same powertrain – a 2.0-litre TSI (188bhp/320Nm) coupled to a 7-speed DSG. Mileage: 15.1kmpl. That’s the same setup which will power the upcoming Kodiaq petrol and the one found underneath the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Skoda says that the Superb facelift can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 7.7 seconds and top out at 238kmph.

Those who want a sophisticated and luxurious package will opt for the Laurin & Klement (L&K). Others who don’t mind a split personality in a car should settle for the Sportline. On the outside, the Sportline has a bunch of blacked-out trim pieces, which are shiny chrome in the L&K. Indoors, Sportline’s all-back theme accentuates the sporty character, whereas the dual-tone beige-and-black finish is more on the luxurious side.

In the features department, the Superb facelift gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, powered seats, handsfree boot-lid operation, LED headlamps, a digital instrument cluster, eight airbags and automatic climate control.
