Earlier this month, Jeep India took the wraps off the thoroughly refreshed Compass. Alongside, it started accepting bookings. Now, we have a price list that starts at Rs 16.99 lakh. The SUV features a tweaked exterior design and an all-new interior backed by an enhanced list of creature comforts. The trim tree starts at Sport, covers Longitude, Limited and tops out with the Model S (new derivative). Here’s the complete price list:

Changes on the outside aren’t entirely evident to an untrained set of eyes. But they are there. Jeep has given the Compass redesigned bumpers, reprofiled LED-powered headlamps and taillamps, new alloy wheels and a slimmer but glitterier grille. Indoors, the refreshed Compass is a far cry from where it was in pre-facelift form. The dashboard is all-new, and it incorporates a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sleeker AC vents and revised HVAC control buttons and knobs. Even the multifunction steering is brand-new. Jeep has also devised a special edition Compass – the 80th Anniversary Edition.

As mentioned above, Jeep has packed the Compass facelift with new features. The list includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charger, powered front seats with memory function for the driver, 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also offers a powered tailgate, a 9-speaker Alpine sound system, auto headlamps and wipers, six airbags, Hill-Hold and Hill-Descent Control, traction control and electronic stability control.

Under the bonnet, you can have a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. The former makes do with 161bhp/250Nm, whereas the latter put out 171bhp/350Nm. Both powerplants come coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission by default. If you want the convenience of an automatic gearbox, Jeep offers a 7-speed DCT and a 9-speed automatic with the petrol and diesel motors, respectively. As before, the option of the 4×4 system & Selec-Terrain is reserved only for the larger engine.

The refreshed Compass is available in seven shades of paint – Exotic Red, Magnesio Grey, Minimal Grey, Bright White, Brilliant Black, Galaxy Blue and Techno Green. As for the standard warranty, that’s 3 years/1,00,000km. If you want a test drive then you’ll have to wait until February 2, 2021. That’s also the date when Jeep starts deliveries of pre-booked units.

In India, the Jeep Compass continues to fend-off competition from the MG Hector and Tata Harrier at one end, and the Hyundai Tucscon, Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-Roc at the other.
