The sub-4 metre sedan segment is one of the most contested in India. And to ignite some more sparks in it, Ford India will launch the Figo Aspire facelift on October 4, 2018. The Indian arm of the American carmaker has now officially started accepting bookings for the sedan at a minimum token amount of Rs 11,000. This amount will, of course, be 100 per cent refundable in case you decide against purchasing one. Booking can be made at any of the authorised Ford dealerships across the length and breadth of the country.

The refreshed Figo Aspire will boast a host of cosmetic changes inside and out. In the latter category, the car will get revised front and rear bumpers, reprofiled headlamp enclosures, tweaked front grille design and larger 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the Figo Aspire will borrow most of the styling cues from the Freestyle. The list includes a revised dashboard design and the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3 capabilities. Unlike the Freestyle, which has an all-black interior theme, the Figo Aspire facelift is likely to retain its two-tone layout. While the car is likely to miss out on LED DRLs, expect it to bring in automatic headlamps and wipers along with a cruise control system.

Ford Freestyle

The borrowing from Freestyle won’t end with the exterior and interior styling. The Ford Figo Aspire facelift will ditch the 1.2-litre Ti-VCT engine in favour of the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol mill. In the Freestyle, the said engine pumps out 96PS/120Nm and the refreshed Figo Aspire is likely to get the same tune. Ford is also likely to discontinue offering the 1.5-litre engine with the Figo Aspire and instead offer manual and automatic transmissions with the 1.2-litre motor. There will be no changes on the diesel front.

Expect Ford to price the refreshed Figo Aspire extremely competitively. Once launched, it will lock horns with the likes of the Tata Tigor, Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
