Ford India has given three models – the Figo, Aspire and the Freestyle – a significant revision. None of those products is now available in Trend trim level. As a result, the Figo and Aspire march on with five variants each, whereas the Freestyle has seven derivatives in its portfolio. Here’s how the price lists look like:

As before, the trio shares the powertrain options. There’s the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and that pumps out 95bhp/119Nm. Diesel fans can opt for the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder motor, which produces 99bhp/215Nm. The only transmission option with both those engines is a 5-speed manual. The choice of an automatic gearbox was available with the Figo and Aspire in the BSIV era, whereas the Freestyle never offered the convenience of a two-pedal setup.

Mileage? All petrol-MT variants of all three cars can deliver up to 18.5kmpl. The diesel-MT combination goes up to 24.4kmpl in the Figo and Aspire, and 23.8kmpl in the Freestyle. And, as you’d expect, their list of features is also quite similar. That covers stuff like a 7.0-inch infotainment system with embedded navigation, up to six airbags, automatic climate control, auto headlamps and wipers, push-button start/stop, a rear-view camera, electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs and electrochromic IRVM (except Aspire).

In India, the Ford Figo competes directly with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. As for the Ford Aspire, the list of rivals includes the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor and the Hyundai Aura. The Freestyle pokes its case against the Mahindra KUV100 and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.

In September this year, Ford introduced the Endeavour Sport in India. It became a direct rival for the Toyota Fortuner TRD. Then, about a week later, the Indian arm of the American carmaker commenced the first phase of Doorstep Service covering nineteen cities. Expect the company to announce the second phase soon.
