Earlier this month, Datsun launched BS6-compliant (Bharat Stage 6) range of the Go and Go+ models. Taking the product count back to three is the refreshed Redi-Go. In addition to a thorough design makeover, the company’s entry-level hatchback also gains BS6 badge and some new features. Prices for the model start at Rs 2.83 lakh and go up to Rs 4.77 lakh, without taxes. Here’s how the complete price list looks like:

On the outside, the most noticeable change is at the front. There’s a new front bumper, housing a prominent grille with honeycomb fill, new sharper-looking headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs. The side profile looks pretty much the same as before, apart from the dual-tone, 14-inch wheel covers. The rear end reveals reprofiled taillamp enclosures which now feature LED units. Step inside, and the first thing you notice is that the dual-tone ambience looks much more appealing than the all-grey treatment, and the fact that seats get new fabric upholstery.

In the features department, the refreshed Datsun Redi-Go offers stuff like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition, keyless entry, LED fog lamps, headlamp levelling, two speakers, front power windows and a digital tachometer (not available with AMT). For passenger safety, the car packs gizmos such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder for front occupants and an over-speed warning system.

The Redi-Go facelift borrows the engine-transmission combinations from its step-sibling – the Renault Kwid. That means there’s a choice of two powerplants – a 0.8-litre petrol engine producing 54bhp/72Nm, and a 1.0-litre motor which generates 67bhp/91Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission is available with both engines. As for the 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), that’s on offer with the larger engine only. Mileage figures? The 0.8-litre engine can go as high as 20.71kmpl. The 1.0-litre engine, on the other hand, can return 21.7kmpl with the manual gearbox and 22kmpl with the AMT.

A total of six colours are available – Vivid Blue, Ruby Red, Sandstone Brown, Bronze Grey, Crystal Silver and Opal White. The Redi-Go facelift comes with a five-year warranty, which comprises of two years standard and a three-year extension. In India, it competes with the Renault Kwid and a couple of Maruti Suzukis, including the Alto and the Celerio.
