Last month, Audi India dropped a teaser for its fifth launch of 2020 – the Q2. Back then, the question was whether we’ll get the refreshed version? Well, we have an answer – no. The company will introduce the pre-facelift Q2, bookings for which have now opened. The minimum token amount is Rs 2 lakh, and those who want can book one by either visiting Audi India’s official website or by contacting the nearest authorised dealership.

The Q2 will become Audi’s least-expensive offering. In terms of dimensions, it measures just shy of 4.2 metres in length, 1.8 metres in width (with OVRMs retracted) and just above 1.5 metres in height. The compact SUV, which is even smaller than the Renault Duster, will offer 355 litres of luggage space.

At the time of launch, the Audi Q2 will be available with just one engine-transmission combination. That comprises of a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 188bhp/320Nm, a 7-speed automatic transmission and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. That, by the way, is the same powertrain that does duty in the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. As per Audi, the setup is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 227kmph.

In terms of features, the Q2 will offer a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a digital instrument cluster (optional extra), multiple drive modes, electrically-operated and heated ORVMs, dual-zone climate control and Audi Connect Services. On the safety and assistance fronts, the compact SUV boasts Hill Hold Assist, all four disc brakes, cruise control with speed limiter and all-round parking sensors.

Audi India is also offering an introductory ‘peace of mind’ benefit. Buyers of the Audi Q2 will get a comprehensive service package for five years, 2+3 years extended warranty and 2+3 years of roadside assistance membership. These complimentary add-ons will surely help boost the numbers. Expect Audi to launch the Q2 within October 2020, wearing a price tag of around Rs 35 lakh. In India, the closest rival for the upcoming Audi will be the Mini Countryman. Price-wise, it’ll cost about the same as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
