Here’s some good news amidst the Coronavirus crises! Although, only for those who still can afford expensive cars! Audi India has officially commenced accepting orders for the all-new RS 7 Sportback. The model, which made its world premiere in September last year, will arrive in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The minimum booking amount is Rs 10 lakh, while deliveries should begin in August 2020. How to book? Well, you can reach out to the nearest dealer. Or, if you’re really paranoid, you can reserve one online via Audi India’s official website.

In Audi’s product tree, the RS 7 is to the S7 as the S7 is to the A7. Makes sense? In simple words, the RS 7 Sportback is the sportiest of them all. Powering it is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 591bhp/800Nm. An 8-speed automatic handles transmission duties and transfers the oomph to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system. The setup is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 3.6 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 250kmph. With the Dynamic and Dynamic Plus packages, that last figure goes up to 280kmph and 305kmph, respectively.

There’s also a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which aids fuel-efficiency and acceleration. But let’s face it, the RS 7 won’t win any mileage wars! That said, Audi claims that the added tech can help save up to 0.8 litres of fuel every 100km. If the driver takes releases the accelerator at speeds ranging between 55kmph and 160kmph, the car will either recover energy for the mild-hybrid system or coast with the engine off. Another feature that saves fuel is the cylinder-on-demand system, which can switch half the cylinders off at low and medium engine loads.

On the creature comforts front, the Audi RS 7 Sportback doesn’t disappoint. It will come with stuff like a 10.1-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps, multiple drive modes, powered and ventilated seats, four-zone climate control and a powered-tailgate. The standard list of features is quite extensive, which also includes RS-spec adaptive suspension and brakes, all-wheel-steering, a sports differential and 21-inch alloy wheels.

In India, the Audi RS 7 Sportback will compete with other go-fast four-door cars such as the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe. Which one would you buy?
