What a month it is turning out to be! We’ve already had numerous product launches and unveilings within the first twenty days of 2021. The latest to join the party is Volvo Cars. It has opened bookings for the new S60 sedan. Those who want one can fulfil the formalities online by visiting the Volvo Auto India’s website. As a special treat, the company is offering a limited number of units at an introductory price of Rs 45.9 lakh. That’s not all! Early buyers will also get a complimentary membership to Volvo’s exclusive Tre Kronor Experience program.

In case you’re wondering, the Tre Kronor Experience program will enable new S60 owners to avail a range of personalized experiences. That includes a dedicated Volvo relationship manager, doorstep solutions for specific services, complimentary pick-up and drop-off of cars for service-related needs and benefits under the referral program. Volvo says that deliveries of cars booked during January and February will start from mid-March 2021.

To begin with, Volvo Auto India is offering the new S60 in a single variant – the T4 Inscription. Powering it is a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 188bhp/300Nm, while an 8-speed automatic handles transmission duties. Will it ever get a diesel? No. Volvo will not offer any new models with a diesel engine. And that is on a global level.

Not flattered by the powertrain’s numbers? Well, the new Volvo S60 will surely leave you impressed with its long list of features. The list includes four-zone automatic climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, powered seats with memory function, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 18-inch alloy wheels. Being a Volvo, safety is top-notch too. Besides many airbags, the new S60 also packs a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping Aid, front and rear parking sensors, Pilot Assist and Hill Start Assist.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances which the COVID-19 pandemic bombarded the world with, Volvo Auto India couldn’t launch the new S60 sooner. That said, it still is quite a contender in a segment that includes the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Jaguar XE and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
