In a bid to liven up its mass-market range of models, Volkswagen has introduced ‘Black & White’ Editions of the Polo, Ameo and the Vento. All three cars feature a range of cosmetic enhancements which are available at no additional cost via all authorised Volkswagen dealerships across the country. The German carmaker also took the opportunity to reintroduce the ‘Deep Black’ colour for the Polo and Vento.

So then, what does the ‘Black & White’ trickery brings to the table? All three cars feature body graphics, ‘Black & White’ leatherette seat covers, 16-inch Portago alloy wheels, black painted roof and ORVMs and chrome fender ‘Black & White’ monikers. In addition, the Polo features a roof-mounted spoiler whereas the Ameo and the Vento boast glossy rear spoilers on the boot lid. For the base colour, the Polo is available only in Black whereas the Ameo is available in White. The Vento, on the other hand, can get the ‘Black & White’ styling cues in both black and white colours.

For these editions, Volkswagen hasn’t made any mechanical changes. That means the Polo is available with either a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine (76PS/95Nm) or a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine (90PS/230Nm). Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Similarly, the Ameo carries the same engines from the Polo. However, its diesel engine produces 110PS/250Nm and can also be had with a 7-speed DSG. Finally, the Vento. It carries the same diesel engine as the Ameo but has a more potent 1.2-litre petrol engine with 105PS/174Nm on tap.

In January of this year, Volkswagen introduced the 4Ever Care after-sales initiative for all its models. Under it, all VW models will come with 4 years/1,00,000km standard warranty, 4 years of roadside assistance and three free services in one year or 15,000km, whichever is earlier.

  1. The cover for four years makes these cars very enticing. I might just ditch the crowd and get the Polo now.
