Allow us to paint a picture here. You own a car or a bike that you genuinely adore. Since it is a machine, the vehicle is bound to deteriorate in performance over time. But you want its heart (the engine) to stay in good shape, just like your own. What do you do? Timely servicing and quality engine oils should help. But is that enough?

One product that could come in handy is from a company Vestige. Dubbed as ‘Mach-Drive NanoEnergizer’, it is an engine oil additive. As per the company, it is ideal for engine restoration and production as it reduces drag, friction and, in turn, noise. And it works for all types of powerplants – diesel, petrol and CNG. For two- and three-wheelers, a 30ml pouch costs Rs 1,490. If you have a four- or more-wheeler, the additive costs Rs 1,870. Both figures include all taxes.

So, what do you get in return? Vestige says that the additive, which comprises of 20-nanometre platinum coasted Zirconium powder emulsified in mineral oil, could improve the engine efficiency for the next 30,000-40,000 km. Diving deeper into that claim and you could expect up to 15 per cent improvement on mileage. Additionally, the vehicle’s harmful emissions could drop down by a whopping 70 per cent.

Here’s some more math from Vestige. Approximately 1.4 crore two-wheels and 44 lakh cars account for new vehicle sales every year. With the ‘Mach-Drive NanoEnergizer’ doing its job, there can be a 20 per cent (not an exact figure) reduction in CO2 emissions. If all those claims are valid, imagine how helpful it could be in our fight against the rising levels of air pollution. And, as an added incentive, it could help owners of ageing vehicles postpone their plans for purchasing new ones. In these troubled times, most will be looking at spending extra cautiously anyway!
