Granted. That might not be the cleverest introduction to a story. Content-wise, however, it will click with many out there. Synergies Castings Ltd (SCL), which is an Indian aluminium alloy wheel manufacturer, has expanded its product offerings with a new range called ‘Magic Black’. Under that banner, the company will sell black chrome-plated wheels – a world’s first. SCL will manufacture them at its facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

To produce these wheels, the company has its in-house developed technology. The end product is not only environmentally-friendly and has a compliant ‘black’ colour but also meets all vehicle manufacturers’ needs, including thermal and microporous requirements. As per SCL, the newly introduced wheels receive copper-nickel-special-chrome plating. That delivers better protection from corrosion and chemical damage, increased longevity, more durability and resistance to abrasion.

Here’s what Shekhar Movva, who is the president at SCL, said about the new product:

The needs and aspirations of the customers with the existing black chrome finish options presented both an opportunity and a motivation for our innovative minds. More than 2 years of intense research, development of several custom processes, creation of new rinses, have finally yielded success. Impeccable finish, terrific functional performance, and stunning looks were the result of this work – Magic Black.

As per SCL’s head honcho, wheels under the Magic Black banner will serve the ultra-premium segment of the car market. They, as per Movva, will also click well with luxury and ultra-luxury segments. He would know since SCL has supplied wheels to OEMs in India and those in other markets for more than seventeen years. In India, the company manufactures wheels for brands like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Ford. Outside, it serves Hyundai, Fiat, Volkswagen and General Motors. Some of the iconic passenger vehicles which had wheels made by SCL include the Hummer H2 and the Cadillac Escalade.
