Did you know that Bentley has retailed more than 20,000 Bentaygas since launch? That might not look or sound like a large number but, for Bentley, that’s an impressive achievement. In fact, the Bentayga has been Bentley’s bestseller. No pressure, then, on the refreshed model! Say hello the Bentley Bentayga facelift. To create it, what the luxury carmaker has done is inject a set of subtle design changes inside and out. And, there are a couple of new toys to accompany the wealthy passengers.

From the outside, the Bentayga finally looks to have joined its siblings – the Continental GT and the Flying Spur – to boast Bentley’s new design language. That comes courtesy of a revised grille, upgraded LED headlamps and new front and rear bumpers. Other design changes include elliptical taillamps, which match the shape of the exhaust outlets, new wheels, a couple of additional colour options and a full-width tailgate as the number plate now finds a place in the rear bumper.

Indoors, the refreshed Bentayga gets a new steering wheel and a revised dashboard along with differently-styled AC vents. The SUV also gets new door trims and seats, which are now available with ventilation for the rear passengers. Bentley says that depending on the seating configuration, occupants of rear seats get 10cm more legroom as well. For the record, the Bentayga can accommodate four, five or seven passengers with the optional third row.

On the features front, Bentley has packed the new-gen infotainment system with a 10.9-inch display and an all-new navigation system. Part of the standard kit includes wireless Apple CarPlay, support for Android Auto (market dependent), wireless mobile charging and heated, wet-arm windscreen wipers. Rear seat occupants get a larger touchscreen remote control tablet, which is in close relation to the one in the Flying Spur. And, of course, the options list is just as extensive as before. It offers plenty of customisation options to suit the buyer’s taste.

At the time of launch, the Bentayga facelift will come only in the V8 guise. That means a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo mill that pumps out 542bhp/770Nm, while an 8-speed automatic handles transmission duties. Bentley claims a 0-100kmph sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 290kmph. Other versions with a plug-in hybrid and W12 powertrains will come later in the year. How do you like the refreshed Bentayga?
