Can’t afford the Cayenne? Is it too big for your liking? If the answer to either of those questions is yes then here’s what you should consider – the refreshed Porsche Macan. Unveiled in its standard form in July last year, the baby Porsche SUV received the S variant before 2018 came to a close. India has received both of them. While the standard variant is priced at Rs 69.98 lakh, the S derivative wears a price tag of Rs 85.03 lakh (ex-showroom India).

In standard form, the Macan facelift boasts a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine which pumps out 245hp/340Nm. If that’s not enough, get the S variant which houses a 3.0-litre V6 with 354hp/480Nm on tap. Both variants get a 7-speed automatic transmission and an active all-wheel-drive system. To ensure all of the oomph is properly utilised, the Macan also gets an automatic limited-slip differential and traction control.

Bored? Then fathom these performance figures. The lesser Macan can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.7 seconds and reach 225kmph flat out, whereas the S can do the sprint in 5.3 seconds and top out at 254kmph. The acceleration times can be slashed by up to 0.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package.

The Porsche Macan facelift comes packed with loads of features. The standard kit includes LED-powered headlamps, taillamps and DRLs, three-zone climate control, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 10.9-inch, full-HD touchscreen infotainment system mated to a 150-watt, 10-speaker sound system, 18-inch alloy wheels with mixed-profile tyres and 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat. Obviously, there are a bunch of optional extras up for grabs including a Bose sound system, air suspension and Porsche’s Active Stability Management.

Like all Porsche models, the Macan facelift comes to India via the CBU route. As far as the list of rivals is concerned, it includes the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.
