Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the next-gen CLA will make its world premiere next month. Specifically, at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While the annual event is slated to run from January 8-11, 2019, expect the new CLA to make its online premiere during the first week of next year. It is safe to say that folks from Stuttgart, Germany, will continue with their product offensive strategy and they will be starting next year’s proceedings pretty early.

So, do we have any confirmed details about the upcoming CLA? Some. For instance, the three-pointed star has confirmed that the new CLA will feature the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with Interior Assistant, augmented reality for navigation, voice command system and Energising Coach, which will offer individual fitness recommendations.

What else? Well, there is some obvious stuff like the new CLA will be a bit bigger and more curvaceous than its predecessor. How do we know that? The new CLA has been caught testing on several occasions, even at the Nürburgring. Of course, Mercedes-Benz won’t take the standard diesel or petrol versions of the 4-door Coupé at the fearsome race track. Actually, it was the AMG-spec CLA that was spied there.

As per Mercedes’ product tree, the CLA will sit below the C-Class. Most of the stuff, like the equipment, engines, transmissions and other mechanicals will be shared with the A-Class sedan, which broke cover earlier this year. The key differentiating factors, of course, will be the svelte silhouette of the CLA and the higher asking price over its more-sensible sibling. Let’s put it this way – the new CLA will be a miniature CLS.

Over the four-day event next month, only the 4-door Coupé version will be unwrapped. Like its predecessor, we’ll be getting the new CLA in the same form on our shores as well, albeit in a tinkered package.
