The wait is over! As its second product launch in 2019, Mercedes-Benz India has landed a performance car. Called the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé, it is priced at Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom India). Like all AMG-marked models, this one will not be put together locally. We bet the price tag of the car gave a clear hint for its imported-ness. Anyway, it joins the Indian C-Class line-up as the most powerful variant.

No points for guessing, we’ll get things started with the C 43’s power-plant. Like its predecessor, it is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine which is boosted by two turbochargers. However, there is more oomph on offer now. It produces 390PS of power and 520Nm of torque. An AMG-spec, 9-speed automatic transmission does its duty to harness and transfer the grunt to the road via Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. As you’d expect, the performance figures are just as exciting as the car looks. The sprint from 0-100kmph takes just 4.7 seconds and the top speed is electronically-limited to 250kmph.

Needless to say, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé comes loaded with features. On the outside, the list of features includes LED-powered headlamps, taillamps and DRLs, auto-dimming, heated, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, AMG-spec performance exhaust system, auto headlamps and wipers, and a boot lid spoiler. Inside the cabin, the list of creature comforts includes a flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, multiple driving modes, powered and heated front seats, red seatbelts in an all-black interior theme, dual-zone climate control and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Obviously, there are a bunch of safety gizmos on offer too. The list includes Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, collision mitigation system, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, rear-view camera, ABS, ESP, electric parking brake and Adaptive Brake Assist with hold function. In India, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé arrives as a rival to the BMW M2 Competition and the Audi S5. If had the money, which one would you prefer?
