It isn’t a secret that Maruti Suzuki has the densest network of authorised dealerships across India. And, as we also know, India’s largest carmaker has two kinds of dealerships – Arena and Nexa. The latter was introduced only a few years ago and although it has spread like wildfire through major towns and cities in the country, it still isn’t present in some of the key markets. To address that, Maruti Suzuki has flagged-off something called a Nexa terminal. In essence, it is a mobile showroom designed to provide a taste to potential customers in towns where a proper Nexa dealership isn’t currently present.

Here’s how Shashank Srivastava, who is the executive director of marketing and sales at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., explained this initiative in an official release:

In less than 4 years of its launch, Nexa has rapidly grown to become the most successful premium retail network in India and contributes over 20% to our total sales. In this short span of time, we have setup over 360 Nexa outlets covering more than 200 cities and added over 9 lakh happy Nexa customers. This mobile Nexa terminal will help us to connect with customers in geographies where Nexa outlets are currently not present.

Maruti Suzuki retails a total of four models via the Nexa network – Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross. The Ciaz and Baleno are leaders in their respective segments in terms of sales. The Baleno, which recently went past the 6-lakh lifetime sales milestone, also has another advantage – it is currently the only premium hatchback in India that complies with Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) levels of emission norms. In Maruti Suzuki’s entire portfolio, the only other car that meets the stricter standards for emissions is the Alto, which in April this year received a mid-life update.
