We know that today Maruti Suzuki sells cars from two retail chains – Arena and Nexa. The latter came into existence in July 2015, and it has played an instrumental role in helping the Indo-Japanese carmaker solidify its frontrunner position. Now, nearly 67 months down the line, the Nexa range of dealerships has added another feather in its hat by surpassing 13 lakh sales. 13.1 lakh, to be precise. In 2020 alone, it retailed over 2.3 lakh units.

Want more dirt? Here you go! In 2015, Nexa contributed to 5 per cent of Maruti Suzuki’s overall sales. That figure stands at 19 per cent in the current fiscal. One of the key players has been the petrol-powered S-Cross. In Q2 and Q3 of 2020-21, the car’s sales witnessed over 104 per cent growth. The spell has helped Maruti Suzuki to increase its market share in the UV segment.

Another success story is the Ciaz, which was shifted from Maruti Suzuki’s Arena chain to Nexa. It has bagged the highest sales in the segment from 2016 to 2020. And how can anyone forget the Baleno! Introduced under the Nexa channel, it surpassed 8 lakh sales in less than five years. The XL6, which is essentially a posher version of the Ertiga, increased Maruti Suzuki’s market share in the MPV segment from 40 to 58 per cent. As for the Ignis, it has found over 1.4 lakh takers since January 2017.

Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki announced that Swift was India’s bestselling car in 2020. More than 1.6 lakh units were retailed, taking the lifetime sales past 23 lakh. Later this year, India’s largest carmaker will introduce the mid-life update of the hatchback in question. Other events which are on the cards include the unveiling of all-new versions of Vitara Brezza and Ciaz. Which one are you looking forward to the most?
