As promised, Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the refreshed XE sedan. There are only two prices to remember – Rs 44.98 lakh for entry-level S trim and Rs 46.33 lakh for the range-topping XE. If you are wondering what the bifurcation of petrol and diesel models in that price list is, then stop. No matter which type of engine you opt for, the trim-wise prices are identical. Another important aspect that both power-plants share is their compliance with Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) standards. That makes the Jaguar XE facelift not only the first new offering in India from the British marque but also the first to meet the stricter emission norms.

Since we’ve touched upon the engines already, let’s stick with them for a while. Both petrol and diesel engines have a cubic capacity of two litres. While the former pumps out 247bhp/365Nm, the latter produces 177bhp/430Nm. An 8-speed automatic unit is the only option available for handling transmission duties. As per Jaguar, the petrol-powered XE can hit 100kmph from nothing in 6.5 seconds and top out at 250kmph. Those numbers, in the same order, for the diesel-fed variants are 8.1 seconds and 228kmph.

As you’d expect, the list of features is pretty impressive. As standard, the refreshed Jaguar XE carries gizmos like a panoramic sunroof, LED-powered headlights with powerwash, dynamic indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, 10-way electrically-adjustable front seats, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, dual-zone climate control and a 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SE-spec ropes in features such as memory function for powered and electrochromic ORVMs, 4-way electric lumbar adjust, Park Assist, Jaguar Smart Key, wireless mobile charger and an interactive driver display.

In India, the Jaguar XE facelift revives rivalry with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4. If you had to choose one, which would be your pick?
Note: Prices mentioned above are ex-showroom India.
