2018 Range Rover Sport

Land Rover India has introduced the model year 2018 Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport and is now accepting bookings for the duo. Prices for the 2018 Range Rover Sport start at Rs 99.48 lakh for the 3.0-litre diesel S variant and go all the way up to Rs 1.72 crore for the 5.0-litre petrol Autobiography Dynamic. On the other hand, the 2018 model of the company’s flagship offering, Range Rover, wears a starting price tag of Rs 1.74 crore for the 3.0-litre diesel Vogue. The range-topping variant of the Range Rover, the 4.4-litre diesel LWB Autobiography, is available at a price of Rs 2.41 crore. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom India.

Bookings for both the models are now underway. Customers can get theirs booked by contacting any one of the 27 authorised Land Rover dealers in India.

2018 Range Rover Sport

What’s new? Well, these are mid-life updates so don’t expect any groundbreaking changes. There is some cosmetic trickery on the outside and an enhanced feature list. We’ve broken the newness down into bullet points:

  • New Atlas mesh grille design
  • Pixel-laser LED headlights
  • Touch Pro Duo infotainment system
  • Power-deployable centre console for rear seats
  • ‘Hot-stone’ massage function
  • Heated seats
  • Gesture-controlled sunblind operation
  • Air ioniser
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist

2018 Range Rover

In a press release, Rohit Suri, president and MD, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, said, “The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have always offered best-in-class comfort, technologies, refinement and driving pleasure. With the Model Year 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, we have refined and honed our flagship models with technologies and features that have raised the benchmark once again.”

As far as engine-transmission options are concerned, the Range Rover Sport is available with four engine options – a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel (258PS/600NM), 4.4-litre supercharged-diesel (340PS/740Nm), 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol (340PS/450Nm) and a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol (525PS/625Nm). On the other hand, the Range Rover is also available with three out of those four engines. Only the 5.0-litre V8 is currently not on offer. However, it will eventually find its way in with the SVAutobiography variant. All engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

In India, the Maserati Levante, Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 and the Toyota Land Cruiser fall in the same price bracket as the Range Rovers.
