Saar: The company wants to further strengthen its foothold in India after clocking an 83 per cent growth in the last fiscal.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which is currently owned by homegrown automaker Tata Motors, has had a splendid 2017-18. The company has revealed it grew 83 per cent in terms of unit sales when compared to the 2016-17 fiscal. If you want to do that math, JLR sold 4,609 vehicles in India during the last fiscal against 2,514 units over the fiscal before that. Riding high on confidence, the British company has said that it will bring 10 new products in India in 2018-19. The company’s new products, like the all-new Land Rover Discovery and the Range Rover Velar, have been very well received.

Rohit Suri, who is the president and managing director at Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd told PTI, “Our sales for 2017-18 were driven almost equally by the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Besides, other models like Jaguar XE, XF and F-PACE and Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque have also done well during the year.” When asked about the plans for the current fiscal, he added, “We have 10 product actions lined up for 2018-19. We are not looking to enter completely new segments.”

Suri was tightlipped about naming any of the upcoming products but he did mention that they could be mid-life updates or model year changes for some products. The company is targeting a double-digit growth over 2017-18 fiscal and the new products which will land in India during the 2018-19 fiscal will play a vital role in the company’s growth plans in India.

Well, if we had to take a sane guess, we would definitely put our money on a mid-life update for the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, two variants of the Range Rover Sport – SVR and the P400e – and the introduction of the Jaguar E-Pace and the recently revealed F-Pace SVR.
