With the Venue, Hyundai plans to land a product which is not just refreshing to look at and to be in but also bang-on up-to-date. To stand out from the crowd, it is tipped to boast a number of segment-first features. One of them will be called ‘Hyundai BlueLink’ which will bring a range of “Connected Car” features to the party. End-result? The Hyundai Venue will become the first SUV of its type to boast such gizmos.

To claim the title of “connected” in the automotive world, the car needs to have its own source for internet connectivity. And the Hyundai Venue too will have that technology, thanks to an eSIM. This forms the base for ‘Hyundai BlueLink’. It will rope-in several features falling under categories such as safety, security, location-based services and vehicle relationship management.

Under the safety category, the ‘Hyundai BlueLink’ will have features like SOS/emergency assistance and roadside assistance. Dedicated buttons for both those features will be on IRVM. It will also shoot notifications in case of a crash or a panic situation. A panic button will also be present on the key fob, which can come in handy if not misused.

Another important aspect for any car owner is security and the Hyundai’s tech has that covered as well. It will feature stolen vehicle notification, tracking and immobilisation. There will be some alert services too, including alerts for geo-fencing, over speeding, time fencing. Pretty neat, isn’t it!

With those serious categories out of the way, let’s focus on ones which enhance the convenience quotient. With all the tech in place, you could remotely operate features like engine start/stop, climate control, blow the horn, flash the lights and lock/unlock doors. Not impressed? How about this – the Venue’s “connected” nature will help deliver location-based services such as live traffic information, live car tracking, location and destination sharing, live point-of-interest search and push maps by call-centre. To top it all, a cloud-based voice recognition system will in the package too.

The ‘Hyundai BlueLink’ tech will also capture records for monthly health reports. Also, it will shoot alerts for maintenance and display driver information and driving behaviour. The tech will also help log issues with the car which will come in handy at the service station.

Hyundai has confirmed that its BlueLink tech will be fitted to future models as well. As far as the Venue is concerned, it will make its world premiere on April 17, 2019 – day one of this year’s New York International Auto Show. The Venue, which is slated to go on sale in May this year, will lock horns with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara and the Honda WR-V in India.

  1. The Venue will eat the competition alive, provided it is priced competitively.
