Saar: Apart from a few cosmetic tweaks here and there, the refreshed Creta will get an enhanced feature list.

Hyundai Creta facelift has been caught testing in India on several occasions. Now though, we’ve managed to get our hands on details which go beyond the camouflaged exterior. Before we get into the variant-wise specs and engine-transmission options, let’s make it perfectly clear that the images used in this article are of the Brazil-spec Hyundai Creta and that its India launch is likely to happen later this month.

With that out of the way, let’s get going. First up, the mechanical stuff. The engine-transmission options will remain identical to the outgoing model. That means customers will have three engines to choose from – a 1.4-litre diesel with 90PS/220Nm on tap, a 1.6-litre diesel with 128PS/260Nm at its disposal and a 1.6-litre petrol with 123PS/151Nm of oomph. While the 1.4-litre engine will come mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox, both the 1.6-litre engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Given below are the claimed mileage figures:

Next in line is the variant list. A total of six variants will be on offer – E, E+, S, SX, SX (Dual) and SX (O). As before, none of them will be available with all the engine-transmission combinations. Price-wise, the refreshed Hyundai Creta is likely to cost more than the outgoing model, primarily due to the added kit it will come with. Let’s look at the main features of each variant and list out which engine-transmission options will be available with them.

Variant – E

The only engine-transmission combination on offer with the entry-level variant is the 1.6-litre petrol with the 6-speed manual. In terms of features, it will offer:

  • Manually adjustable driver’s seat
  • Manual AC
  • All four power windows
  • Sliding armrest
  • Hive
  • Dual Airbags
  • ABS
  • Dual tone bumper

Variant – E+

Apart from the addition of iBlue App support and the front USB charger (petrol only), all the features of this variant will be identical to the base-spec. However, Hyundai will offer the E+ variant with two engine options – 1.4-litre diesel and the 1.6-litre petrol. Both will come mated only to the 6-speed manual transmission.

Variant – S

Over the E+ variant, the S will get:

  • LED DRLs
  • Front USB Charger (standard)
  • Parking Sensors with Camera

In terms of powertrain options, the S will be offered with two of them – 1.4-litre diesel manual and 1.6-litre diesel automatic.

Variant – SX

Amongst all the variants, the SX will be offered with the most number of engine-transmission combinations. To be precise, it will be four – both manual and automatic transmissions with both 1.6-litre engines. In terms of features, it takes a substantial leap forward over the above-mentioned variants. Over the S variant, the SX will come with:

  • Shark-fin antenna
  • 17-inch alloy wheels (only with automatic transmission; others will come with 16-inch alloy wheels)
  • Projector headlamps
  • Sunroof (only with automatic transmission)
  • Cruise control
  • LED positioning lamps
  • Smart key
  • FATC Cluster Ionizer
  • 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Four speakers and two tweeters
  • Arkamys Mode for richer sound quality
  • Smartphone compatibility
  • Smartkey Band
  • Auto Link App
  • Static bending lights
  • ISOFIX anchorages (only with automatic transmission)

Variant – SX (Dual)

As the name suggests, it will be offered with dual-tone exterior colour options – Passion Orange with Black roof and White with Black roof. As far as features are concerned, 17-inch alloy wheels will be offered as standard in this variant. The rest of the feature list will be identical to the SX variant. For powertrain options, Hyundai will offer two out of the possible five – 1.6-litre petrol manual and 1.6-litre diesel manual.

Variant – SX (O)

As before, this will be the range-topping variant of the Hyundai Creta Facelift also. It will be offered with two engine-transmission combos – 1.6-litre petrol manual and 1.6-litre diesel manual. Over the SX (Dual), the SX (O) variant will get:

  • Electrically adjustable driver’s seat
  • Wireless mobile phone charger
  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Hill Assist
  • Height adjustable front seatbelts

So, there you have it. With the facelift, the Hyundai Creta will bring some segment first features like a sunroof, smartkey band, powered driver’s seat and wireless phone charger. That said, there are a few downers in the Creta’s variant-wise recipe. Like before, the top-spec SX (O) variants don’t get automatic transmissions and, features like six airbags and height adjustable front seatbelts are reserved for aforementioned variant only.

With the updated kit, the Hyundai Creta will surely worry the Jeep Compass and the Renault siblings – Captur and Duster. However, Ford is readying two new variants of the EcoSport and based on what we’ve seen in the spied photos and videos, they will surely attack the entry or even mid-range variants of the Hyundai Creta facelift.
