Saar: The carmaker will help in conducting training and creating job opportunities for unskilled manpower.

The Indian arm of the South Korean carmaker Hyundai has signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) with Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) to boost the “Skill India Initiative”. The carmaker will help in conducting training and creating job opportunities for unskilled manpower who are above the age of 18 years and at least have the qualification of 8th-grade modules.

Training will take place at six Hyundai dealerships associated with Hyundai’s Technical Training Academy across India. The trainees will be given an option to choose from different automotive training courses designed by ASDC, such as Automotive Service Technician and Washer Training. Once the students complete their respective courses, they will be offered an opportunity to work in Hyundai workshops for aftersales roles like Service Support Technician and Washer.

Sharing his thoughts upon partnering with ASDC, S J Ha, director, sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said:

“We are proud to sign this MoU with ASDC – A first in Industry initiative by an automobile manufacturer in India for aftersales operations. As a responsible and caring brand, Hyundai is aligned and committed to the government’s Skill India initiative. We work with ITI’s and Polytechnic institutes in every state where we absorb close to 99 per cent students in different entities in the Hyundai India ecosystem. This MoU will further boost our commitment towards skilling and employing the youth of India.”

Nikunj Sanghi, president, ASDC, shared his thoughts about this alliance. He said:

“We are happy to partner with Hyundai Motor India in this skill development initiative. This association is a benchmark in the industry and aims at strengthening the government of India’s vision of skill India in employment generation.”

The training courses will be available at subsidised rates for the eligible candidates.
