Last month Audi started accepting bookings for the e-tron in India. And now we have a price list. The BEV, or battery electric vehicle, arrives in two body styles – an SUV and a Sportback (crossover) – and two variants – 50 Quattro and 55 Quattro. And here’s the price list:

  • Audi e-tron 50 Quattro – Rs 99.99 lakh
  • Audi e-tron 55 Quattro – Rs 1.16 crore
  • Audi e-tron Sportback 55 Quattro – Rs 1.18 crore

In 50 Quattro form, the Audi e-tron comes with two electric motors, one for each axle. The total system output is 308bhp/540Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 7 seconds and a top speed of 190kmph. Juices come from a 71kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers a WLTP-certified range between 264km and 379km.

The Audi e-tron 50 Quattro can replenish its onboard battery via a slow charger (AC) and a fast one (DC). For instance, the standard 11kW AC charger can completely charge the battery in less than seven hours. Else, a DC feed of up to 120kW can juice up the battery pack from zero to 80 per cent in about half an hour.

Both variants with the 55 Quattro tag pack the same powertrain. Like the 50, the 55 also has a dual motor setup but with a bigger punch. Together, they generate 355bhp/561Nm. Engage the boost mode, however, and those numbers jump to 402bhp/664Nm. That’s enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 5.7 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 200kmph. Those performance figures are identical for both the SUV and the Sportback.

Range? Well, it is between 359km and 484km (WLTP combined) on a single charge. Courtesy of its slightly more aerodynamic shape, the Sportback can travel a bit more than the SUV. The electric motors draw their juices from a 95kWh lithium-ion battery. The e-tron comes with an 11kW AC charger, which can replenish the battery in approximately 8.5 hours. Get the optional 22kW charger, and you can, theoretically, half the charging time.

Alternatively, one could find a DC charger with an electricity feed of up to 150kW. Then, at full power and under ideal conditions, it can charge the e-tron from zero to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes. As far as the list of features is concerned, it is pretty extensive. Stuff like powered seats, Matrix LED headlamps, four-zone automatic climate control, adaptive air suspension, a digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and ambient lighting are part of the package.

In India, the Audi e-tron competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Jaguar I-Pace. Out of the three, which one do you fancy the most?
