Have you been waiting to purchase a sub-4 metre sedan? Well, your list of options just got extended with the introduction of the Honda Amaze Special Edition. The company has launched it to drive sales this festive season. The Special Edition Amaze is available in four variants. Here’s how they have been priced:

Honda Amaze Special Edition

VariantPrice
Petrol-MTRs 7.0 Lakh
Petrol-CVTRs 7.9 Lakh
Diesel-MTRs 8.3 Lakh
Diesel-CVTRs 9.1 Lakh

To create the Amaze Special Edition, Honda took the S-marked variants and garnished them with some add-ons. The list includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, body graphics, different seat covers, sliding armrest in the front and a couple of ‘Special Edition’ logos. Compared to the donor derivatives, the Special Edition ones cost Rs 12,000 more. On the other hand, they demand Rs 48,000 less than the V-spec variants, which don’t have with the touchscreen infotainment mentioned above.

Obviously, there are no mechanical changes to report. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 89bhp/110Nm and, depending on the variant chosen, comes with a 5-speed manual or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Both gearbox options are also available with the diesel mill. The diesel-fed 1.5-litre turbocharged motor puts out 99bhp/200Nm with manual transmission and 79bhp/160Nm with CVT. Here’s how the mileage figures look like:

Petrol-MT: 18.6kmpl | Petrol-CVT: 18.3kmpl

Diesel-MT: 24.7kmpl | Diesel-CVT: 21kmpl

In August, Honda announced a sales milestone for the Amaze brand. More than four lakh units have been sold since its launch in 2013. The company said that 42 per cent of Amaze customers are first-time car buyers. Towards the end of the same month, the Japanese firm introduced the updated Jazz. In addition to complying with BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) emission norms, the premium hatchback also offers more features, including a segment-first electric sunroof.

In India, the Honda Amaze competes with a range of potent products. The list includes the Ford Aspire, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor and the Hyundai Aura.
