One of the several goals that Renault wants to achieve is tapping rural markets across India. The project is called Rural Amplification Strategy. And to bolster the path to glory, the French automaker has now joined forces with CSC Grameen eStore – a CSC eGovernance Services India Ltd. (CSC-SPV) subsidiary. Part of the partnership includes the listing of Renault India’s products on CSC Grameen eStore. Those interested can purchase them through Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). Renault becomes the first four-wheeler brand to get listed on CSC Grameen eStores.

For the uninitiated, CSC Grameen eStore is an eCommerce initiative by CSC (Common Service Centres) scheme, which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The idea is to promote digital shopping and delivery in rural areas. Renault will supply the required products to VLEs, who will help list them on select CSC Grameen eStores. Furthermore, the VLEs will promote, generate enquiries and facilitate the sale to customers in rural markets with the support of respective Renault authorised dealerships.

In addition to this latest initiative, Renault India has taken several other routes to broaden the customer base across rural markets. There was a ‘sons of soil’ program wherein the company recruited 500 educated youngsters from rural and small towns, trained them and made them rural sales engineers to market Renault cars. Another one goes by the name ‘Rural Float’ – a mobile showroom that can serve existing and potential customers in more than 360 towns in India, especially in the rural markets.

For Renault India, the Kiger subcompact SUV is its latest offering that competes with many potent models, including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Nissan Magnite. Besides that, Renault also sells the Kwid, Triber and Duster in India. Earlier this month, the brand announced that it has partnered with Cero Recycling to support India’s first-ever Vehicle Scrapping Policy. In addition to discounts on new cars, Renault will also take care of all the tedious paperwork for old/end of life vehicles. Presently, the service is available in six cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune.

A car nutter by heart. A hopeless engineer by education. Gunning for one goal - simplify cars.
