The Indian arm of the German carmaker Audi has been quite busy in the past few months. It introduced two performance-oriented models – the RS 7 Sportback and the RS Q8 – and, very recently, opened bookings for the Q2. While we wait for the compact SUV, which arrives on October 16, 2020, Audi has expanded the Q8’s portfolio by adding a third variant. In Audi’s world, it is called Q8 Celebration 55 TFSI Quattro Tiptronic, and it wears a price tag of Rs 98.98 lakh.

The new derivative undercuts the previous least-expensive Q8 variant by over Rs 34 lakh. And yet, both get the same powertrain. It comprises of a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, 8-speed automatic transmission and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. With 335bhp/500Nm on tap, the Q8 can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds and top out at 250kmph. Those numbers aren’t bad for something that weighs nearly 2.2 tonnes (kerb) and isn’t especially low-slung material.

Now, the difference between the two non-RS variants of the crossover comes from the list of features. The Technology-spec Q8 packs more of the stuff. That said, the car has a lengthy list of gizmos even in the Celebration form. It comes with HD Matric LED headlamps with dynamic lighting, button-less MMI navigation system with touch response, ambient lighting and Audi Virtual Cockpit (digital instrument cluster). The Q8 Celebration also comes with eight airbags, a panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charger, cruise control and dual-zone climate control.

In addition to booking Q8 Celebration, or for that matter any Audi, via the conventional method (contacting the dealership), one can also do that online. The company says it has received a good response for the Q8 in India. If that’s true, the new variant will only boost those sales numbers. In India, the Audi Q8 has the BMW X6, Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe as direct rivals.
