Were you one of the several disappointed souls who could not put their names down for the MG Hector? Here’s a development that will inject some cheer in your life. Morris Garages India has started accepting bookings for the Hector again but only for a limited period. Do not ask or wonder how to quantify the “limited period”. That will only gain its definition once the company decides to put a stop to proceedings again. A minimum booking amount of Rs 50,000 can either be paid online or at any of the authorised dealerships.

MG Motor India garnered over 28,000 bookings for the Hector in six weeks. That was enough for the Chinese-owned British brand to suspend accepting reservations for its first model in India temporarily. And when that happened, the carmaker also announced that the Hector is sold out for this year. This move of recommencing the bookings process comes on the back of a plan for increased production. The second shift in the manufacturing facility will go live in November 2019. To inject some reassurance to 15,000 unaddressed bookings, the company says they all are in the current priority list.

The other significant development in MG Hector’s India innings is that it has received a price hike of about 2.5 per cent. Depending on the variant chosen, you could pay a minimum of Rs 30,000 or a maximum of Rs 40,000 over and above the launch prices. Here’s the revised list:

Those who are in the waiting list from the first bookings phase, do not worry. The price hike will not affect you. MG Motor India says that the current waiting period for the Hector currently extends to nearly 3-4 months and that, of course, depends on the variant and choice of colour. Even with the increased prices, the SUV is quite a package. The Hector will soon gain another upward price revision when it becomes BS6-compliant.
