Saar: This time around the fuel hose routing for the petrol-powered variants will be inspected for repairs.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has initiated a second voluntary recall campaign in less than two months for the Innova Crysta and Fortuner models. This time around, it will recall only the petrol-powered variants of the aforementioned models, which were manufactured between July 21, 2016, and March 22, 2018. Under this recall, Toyota will inspect the installed fuel hose routing and rectify if need be.

Toyota says that in the coming days, its authorised dealers will contact all the customers who have purchased petrol-fed variants of the Innova Crysta or the Fortuner during the above-mentioned period. Customers will be asked to come in at the earliest to get their cars inspected and repaired. Needless to say, the cost of the entire operation will be borne by the manufacturer.

Prior to this campaign, Toyota Kirloskar Motor started a recall for the same two models in the month of May this year. For that recall, the company mentioned that it wanted to inspect and repair the wire harness of the Innova Crysta and Fortuner models, which were produced between April 2016 to November 2017. Since the voluntary recall campaign was not limited to any particular engine type, it would have covered a lot more units for the inspection process. Apart from the obvious similarity between the two recall campaigns, it is also worth noticing that both are roughly covering units manufactured over a 20-month period each.

Both, Innova Crysta and Fortuner, are bestsellers in their own segments. In fact, Toyota Kirloskar Motor earns its bread-and-butter from these two models. Other models, such as the Etios sedan and the Etios Liva, have worked well as cabs. Toyota did try and liven up the Etios marque with the dual-tone Liva hatchback, which recently received an additional two-tone paint option, but that hasn’t really worked as well as the manufacturer had initially hoped.
