Earlier this month, Tata Motors unveiled the new Tigor EV and started accepting bookings for it. Now, we’ve got a price list. The revised electric vehicle arrives in three variants – XE+, XM and XZ+. Their prices are Rs 11.99 lakh, Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 12.99 lakh, respectively. You can also order it in a dual-tone finish (costs Rs 15,000 more), but only in the top-spec trim. This time around, the Tigor EV has been designed specifically for personal use. Those who want a similar package for commercial purposes can settle for the Xpres-T electric sedan.

Powering the refreshed Tigor EV is Tata Motors’ Ziptron technology. That takes the shape of an electric motor with 74bhp/170Nm on offer. Coupled to it are a single-speed transmission and a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. As per the automaker, the Tigor EV can hit 60kmph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds. That’s pretty quick for a city runabout. As for the ARAI-certified range, that’s 306 km.

Yes, the Tigor EV supports slow as well as fast charging. Use a 15amp electricity feed, and the car will take about 8.5 hours to replenish the battery from zero to 80 per cent. However, if you can find a recommended fast charger, the wait time drops down to about an hour (from zero to 80 per cent charge). The motor and the battery come with IP67 grade of dust and water resistance. Tata Motors’ covering them under warranty for 8 years/1,60,000km.

Features? The standard list includes automatic climate control, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, Hill Start Assist, Corner Stability Control and Sports mode with the gearbox. But, as you’d expect, the range-topping derivative offers extra stuff. That includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker sound system, and Tata’s iRA tech with 30+ connected-car features come part of the package.

Compared to the Nexon EV, which starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.85 lakh, the new Tigor EV is a good budget alternative. So the question is, would you buy the Tigor EV?
