Saar: It is expected to slot between the Style and the Laurin & Klement variants.

Skoda Auto India will soon launch a new variant of its flagship saloon – the Superb. Called as the Superb Sportline, it is expected to find its place between the Style and the Laurin & Klement (L&K) variants. As the name suggests, it will flaunt some sporty elements in its package which will make it stand out from the other two variants.

The company is yet to release any information about the upcoming variant. However, you can expect a generous use of the colour black in its kitty. On the outside, the Skoda Superb Sportline will get a front grille and ORVMs finished in gloss black, Sportline badging on front fenders, 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch optional), strips on the sides, window surrounds and boot-mounted spoiler finished in gloss black. Additionally, headlamps and foglamps will feature darkened inserts in their enclosures and the saloon will also get a sporty rear diffuser.

The obsession with the colour black also dominates the interior. The dual-tone theme will be ditched for an all-black interior and the leather seats will be replaced with the ones finished in Alcantara. The standard steering wheel is also likely to be replaced with a sporty flat-bottom one with paddle-shifters. To further accentuate the sporty quotient, Skoda is also likely to offer different drive modes with the Superb Sportline and also feature aluminium plates for the pedals.

Allow us to mention that the abovementioned features, especially on the inside, are all expected to be part of the Superb Sportline’s package. As far as powertrains are concerned, the new variant is likely to be offered with both petrol- and diesel-automatic combinations. Since this is not an RS-marked variant, don’t expect Skoda to offer any additional oomph with either of the engines. The power and performance figures are likely to remain unchanged, with the 1.8-litre petrol delivering 180PS/250Nm and the 2.0-litre diesel generating 177PS/350Nm. While the DSG-equipped petrol engine comes with 7 speeds in its configuration, the diesel makes do with only 6 speeds.

Skoda Superb Corporate Edition Silently Launched At Rs 23.49 Lakh

Skoda is likely to launch the Superb Sportline in the month of September this year. The ex-showroom prices for the petrol and diesel Sportline variants are expected to be around Rs 28.5 lakh and Rs 31.50 lakh respectively.
