Tata Motors has launched a separate brand for fleet customers. And it’s called Xpres. Under the new name, the automaker will introduce offerings designed and developed exclusively for fleet customers. The first vehicle to enter the portfolio will be the Tigor EV facelift. Although, it won’t be called that anymore. Instead, it will wear the Xpres-T tag.

Bookings for the refreshed sedan will open soon. It will be offered with two battery sizes – 16.5 kWh and 21.5 kWh. With the former, the ARAI-certified range is 165km. Opt for the latter, and the range figure jumps to 213km. The larger battery will also support faster charging when compared to the smaller one. Tata Motors says the bigger battery can be juiced up from zero to 80 per cent in 90 minutes. The wait time for the smaller one is 110 minutes. Obviously, both will accept feed from a 15amp socket as well.

Powering the Xpres-T EV will be a single electric motor with 40bhp/105Nm. A single-speed unit will handle transmission duties. By default, the pure-electric sedan will reach a maximum speed of 80kmph. Tata Motors has devised two trim levels – XM+ and XT+. Most of the features are on offer in both. However, the lesser one will miss out on 14-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured door handles and ORVM caps, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a remote key fob.

That means stuff like dual airbags, rear parking sensors, automatic climate control, dual driving modes, and a Bluetooth-enabled music system will be part of the standard kit. For the body, there will be just one colour option – Pearlescent White.

Tata Motors has sold more than 1,700 units of the Tigor EV to date. In refreshed form, it will continue to rival the Mahindra eVerito. No other carmaker offers an all-electric car in the same sort of price range. That, however, will eventually change as both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are working on their respective pure-electric offerings for the masses.
