It was in August when Porsche commenced the unveiling process of the updated Panamera range. Now, with the latest variant unwrapped, the German luxury carmaker has completed the refreshed model line-up. What you see here is the range-topping Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. In short, it is the most powerful variant in the revamped product line.

The electrified model packs more punch. Most of it comes from the updated 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8, which now generates 563bhp. That’s 21bhp more than before. Mated to the internal combustion engine is an electric motor which, all on its own, produces 134bhp. Porsche says that with the total system output of 689bhp/870Nm, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor). The top speed is 315kmph, which is 5kmph more than before.

The electric motor gets its juices from a larger (17.9 kWh, up from 14.1 kWh) high-voltage battery. As per WLTP, the updated Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid can travel up to 50km on electric power alone. As for the battery, it can be charged either via a standard domestic plug-point or a power socket. Porsche offers a mobile charger with a charging capacity of up to 7.2 kW. Under ideal conditions, that should replenish a completely flat battery in about 2.5 hours. Using a Mode 3 cable, the car can also charge its battery at public charging points.

Like all other Panamera derivatives in their updated avatar, the Turbo S E-Hybrid also gains some styling tweaks. At the front, there are the dual C-shaped light models accompanied by larger side air intakes. The rear end gets a revamped light bar which runs over the boot lid. The list of options includes darkened Exclusive Design tail lights, three new 20- and 21-inch wheels and two new exterior colours – Cherry Metallic and Truffle Brown Metallic.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid also comes with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport, which covers Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, rear-wheel steering and ceramic brakes. All-in-all, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is one serious sports saloon. Do you agree?
