Saar: With 700PS/750Nm on tap, it is the most powerful iteration of the 911 model range ever.

Behold! The most powerful derivative of the iconic Porsche 911 has finally landed on our shores. Porsche calls it the GT2 RS and has priced it at Rs 3.88 crore. Just to let you guys know, back in April when we reported that the 911 GT2 RS is coming soon, it was listed at Rs 3.77 crore on Porsche’s India website (both prices, ex-showroom India). The Porsche 911 GT2 RS made its world premiere just over a year ago at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

The two-seater sports car is powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, flat-six engine that puts out 700PS/750Nm. The rear-mounted power plant comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission which feeds the power to the rear wheels only. The setup can catapult the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to 100kmph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds. That’s insanely quick! Any guesses for the 0-200kmph time? It is 8.3 seconds. Porsche claims that it can reach a top speed of 340kmph.

Now, all those figures are sort of meaningless unless you put the car on a lap and see how quickly it can go around. The most famous of them all is, of course, the Nürburgring. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS went around the 20.76km track in 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds. That’s faster than almost any other road legal car in the world. And when you consider that lap record and the performance figures that it has, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is not just the most powerful but also the fastest iteration of the 911 family the world has ever seen.

To help achieve those figures mentioned in the preceding paragraphs, Porsche has also put the car on diet. It features an extra-lightweight titanium exhaust system, which weighs around 7kg less than the system used on the 911 Turbo. Further weight saving has been achieved by carving the bonnet out of carbon fibre and the roof is made of magnesium. Predictably, the tyres are fatter too. The front ones are rated at 265/35 ZR 20 and the rears at 325/30 ZR 21. Accompanying them as standard, are Porsche’s ceramic composite brakes.

In India, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS doesn’t really have direct competitors. But if you are after a super-sports car and don’t mind spending around Rs 4 crore mark, you can also look at the Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari 488.
