If you’ve been waiting to purchase a Volvo car, now is possibly the best time to do so. The Indian arm of the Swedish carmaker has confirmed that its entire range of offerings has completed the transition to BS6 (Bharat Stage 6). What’s so special about that? Well, the upgrades haven’t had an impact on the prices. That means you can have a BS6-ready Volvo with BSIV price. But don’t delay too much as this deal is only available until March 31, 2020.

Volvo sells a range of models in India. They are – S90, V90 Cross Country, XC40, XC60 and the XC90. Apart from the flagship offering, all others are available in a single engine-transmission combination. The S90 wears the D4 Inscription tag. That means 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, which pumps out 187bhp/400Nm, comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. As for the XC40, it is available in the petrol-automatic R-Design variant only. That’s the same one that received a price tag in December last year.

The V90 Cross Country and the XC60 get Volvo’s D5-marked powertrain in Inscription trim. It comprises of a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. Both models have 232bhp/480Nm on tap, and that’s enough for a top speed of 230kmph (electronically-limited). As far as the XC90 is concerned, it is available with diesel (shared the XC60 and V90 Cross Country), petrol (2.0-litre engine producing 402bhp/640Nm) and petrol-hybrid powertrains.

This year Volvo will introduce the all-new S60 in India. That, when it first debuted in June 2018, will come to India in petrol-guise only. In all probability, Volvo will bring two engine-transmission combinations with the sedan – a T4 and a T5. Both use the same 2.0-litre power-plant, but where the former has the same out as the XC40 currently available in India, the latter offers 247bhp/350Nm. Once launched, the new S60 will compete with the Jaguar XE, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4.
