Saar: The petrol-only seven-seater is available in just one variant.

It was back in April this year when we exclusively revealed that the Mitsubishi Outlander carries a price tag of Rs 31.54 lakh (ex-showroom India). Well, after nearly four months of our report, Mitsubishi Motors India has finally launched the seven-seater SUV in India and its price has been hiked by Rs 41,000 to Rs 31.95 lakh.

Unlike its rivals, the Mitsubishi Outlander is available in one variant with only one engine-transmission combination. Under the bonnet is a 2.4-litre petrol engine that puts out 167PS of power and 222Nm of torque. Mated to the engine is a 6-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission), which routes power to the road via a multi-select 4WD system. Speaking of which, the electronically controlled on-demand 4WD tech has three modes – Auto, Eco and Lock. Mitsubishi claims that the Outlander can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 11.1 seconds.

In terms of dimensions, the Mitsubishi Outlander measures at 4,695mm, 1,810mm and 1,710mm in length, width and height respectively. While the wheelbase is clocked at 2,670mm, the ground clearance is 190mm. We think it is safe to say that in the dimensions department, the new Mitsubishi model isn’t going to win any competition.

As mentioned above, the Outlander comes to India in just one variant. The company has tried to make the feature-list appealing enough to justify its steep price. The list of gizmos includes dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, electric parking brake with auto hold function, powered sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, seven airbags and LED-powered automatic headlamps, fog lamps and DRLs. There’s also a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, coupled to a 710-watt sound system.

In India, the Mitsubishi Outlander locks horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, Isuzu MU-X and its own sibling – the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Out of the lot, only the Toyota Fortuner is offered with a petrol engine.
