Saar: It is available in three variants and all are powered by a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine.

Mahindra has finally done doodling around and launched the TUV300 Plus in India. Unlike the initial shock, wherein it was listed in just one variant, the official launch confirms that it will actually be offered in three. The entry-level P4 variant is priced at Rs 9.59 lakh, the mid-range P6 will cost Rs 9.95 lakh and the range-topper P8 carries a price tag of Rs 10.99 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

We won’t be bothering to run a separate ‘variants explained’ article for this and there isn’t much to talk about. Instead, we’ll wrap it off in this article itself. But before we get there, let’s fish out all the common stuff. All three variants are powered by a 2.2-litre mHAWK diesel mill that produces 120PS of power and 280Nm of torque. That engine, and those power and torque figures are identical to the S5 and S7 (120PS) variants of the Scorpio. What is not common is that this engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission in the TUV300 Plus. It is also worth mentioning that the TUV300 Plus is the first 9-seater passenger vehicle that Mahindra has produced for personal use.

All three variants come as standard with the 9-seat layout. But only the top-spec P8 has the option of folding the second row of seats to expand boot volume to up to 888 litres. As standard, all three have a luggage capacity of 696 litres.

In case you are wondering, the TUV300 Plus is 405mm longer and 14mm lower than the vehicle it is based on. The width, wheelbase, fuel tank capacity (60 litres) and turning radius (5.35 metres) remain identical. However, the TUV300 Plus rides on 16-inch wheels, 1 inch larger than the sub-4 metre Mahindra TUV300.
