Good news, SUV lovers! Mahindra has finally unveiled the prices of the XUV700, the replacement for the XUV500. They start at Rs 11.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 21.59 lakh. Besides those two figures, there are 19 more. In other words, Mahindra has devised a total of 21 variants for the SUV. And to clear the air on that here’s the complete price list:

Now, those prices are applicable to the first 25,000 customers. Once that threshold is breached, those numbers will go up. Mahindra clearly wanted to give a lot of choice to XUV700 buyers. That’s why it not only becomes an alternative to the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos but also Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Unfortunately, however, you can’t order the XUV700 right now. At least not officially, as Mahindra will start accepting bookings from October 7, 2021. And based on it is has priced the SUV, chances of lengthy waiting periods are on the cards.

Let’s talk powertrains. There are two engine options – a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol. Both powerplants are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. No matter which petrol-powered variant you opt for, the power and torque figures remain the same at 197bhp and 380Nm, respectively. However, the story isn’t that simple for diesel derivatives. For instance, the entry-level MX variant has 153bhp/360Nm on tap. But, all other manual variants offer 182bhp/420Nm. As far as automatic derivatives are concerned, they put out 182bhp/450Nm. And, there’s only variant with AWD (All Wheel Drive).

Next, features. The MX variants offer stuff like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Smart door handles, multifunction steering wheel, LED taillamps and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The next in line AX3 trim line brings in additional creature comforts. The list includes two 10.25-inch displays (one for infotainment and instrument cluster each), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs and a 6-speaker sound system.

Predictably, AX5 variants offer more stuff, such as Skyroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, curtain airbags for all rows and LED headlamps. Finally, range-topping AX7 derivatives introduce features like ADAS, 18-inch alloys, dual-zone automatic climate control and reversing camera. What is Luxury Pack? That ropes in a 12-speaker Sony sound system, 360-degree surround view and wireless mobile charging.

Mahindra has shortlisted five colours for the XUV700 – Electric Blue, Red Rage, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver and Everest White. However, details like standard warranty and mileage are still unknown.

The Mahindra XUV700 gives a lot of models something to think about. Why? The pricing is such that it competes with compact SUVs like the Kicks, Kushaq and Taigun, and also rivals seven-seater products such as the Safari and the Alcazar. So the question is – would you consider the XUV700 over others?
