Towards the end of November 2019, Kia Motors India announced that the Seltos’ price list would receive an upward revision in January 2020. And here’s that revised price list:

The simple matter of the development is this – you’d have to shell out at least Rs 20,000 more for a Seltos than you would have in 2019. As you must have noticed, except for the entry-level HTE derivative, all other petrol-powered variants now cost Rs 30,000 more. The diesel-fed iterations, on the other hand, have received the maximum bump of Rs 35,000. In essence, Kia Motors India has let go of the introductory prices. The new price list came into effect from January 1, 2020.

To begin with, Kia Motors India lined-up sixteen variants of the Seltos. Two more options – 1.4 turbo-petrol DCT and 1.5 diesel-AT – were added in the GTX+ trim line at a later stage. In the compact SUV space, the Seltos is presently the only option with BS6-compliant powertrains. And that has been the case ever since the car went on sale in August last year. That, in conjunction with refreshing looks, a feature-laden cabin and broadest powertrain options, helped the Seltos tower over the competition. Over 45,000 units of the Seltos found takers in 2019, whereas the bookings counter has already breached past the 100,000-mark.

In India, the Kia Seltos competes with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the Nissan Kicks. The Renault and the Nissan are likely to enter the BS6 reign in petrol guise only. As far as the Creta is concerned, Hyundai is prepping the all-new version which could share its powertrains with the Seltos. Kia Motors India will be launching two new products this year – the Carnival MPV and a sub-4 metre SUV, which currently carries the codename QYI.
