Saar: It is the same engine that does duty in the Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery.

British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has doubled the variant range of the Jaguar F-Type in India. The company has done so by introducing the two-seater sports car with a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine. The smaller engine is available in standard and R-Dynamic variants of the coupé and the convertible. Here’s the price list (ex-showroom India):

Jaguar F-Pace 2.0-Litre Price List

VariantsStandardR-Dynamic
CoupéRs 90.93 LakhRs 93.67 Lakh
ConvertibleRs 1.01 CroreRs 1.04 Crore

As far as the specifications of the 2.0-litre Ingenium engine are concerned, it produces 300PS of power and 400Nm of torque. In the Jaguar F-Type, it is offered only with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The company claims that the setup, in both coupé and convertible forms, is enough for the sports car to hit 100kmph from nought in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kmph.

Jaguar Land Rover To Build Engines In India

Upon introducing the new variants, Rohit Suri, president and MD, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd., said:

“We are very excited about the introduction of the 2.0 l engine on the F-TYPE. This will make our sportscar brand more accessible to Jaguar fans and customers across the spectrum. Enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled by the appeal of this pure breed F-TYPE with its own unique driving character.”

The engine in question isn’t a new one. It has been doing duty, in one tune or the other, in several models from the Jaguar Land Rover family. The list includes Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Evoque.

Jaguar F-Type SVR Launched At Rs 2.65 Crore

The company claims that the lighter engine shaves off 52kg in weight when compared to the F-Type variants with a 3.0-litre V6 under the hood. Speaking of which, they are listed on Jaguar Land Rover’s India website but aren’t on sale just yet. Prior to launching the 2.0-litre variants of the F-Type, Jaguar sold only the ‘R’ and ‘SVR’ variants, in convertible and coupé forms, of the tiny two-seater. Both ‘R’ and ‘SVR’ variants are powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, which in the former form produces 550PS/680Nm and with the latter tag generates 575PS/700Nm.
