Have you heard of Hyundai’s “Wonder Warranty”? No! Hyundai doesn’t ask you to wonder what kind of warranty you’ll get for your car! What it does is give you a choice between three types of standard warranty packages, and you could choose whichever fits your requirements the best. There are three options – three years/unlimited km; four years/60,000 km; and five years/50,000 km.

Hyundai is now offering the variable warranty options with its only EV in India – the Kona Electric. Even existing customers can shift from the earlier three years/unlimited km package to another one without paying any extra cost. The eight years/1,60,000 km cover for the battery remains irrespective of which out of the three options a customer opts. The question is, will this step help Hyundai garner more customers for the EV?

There’s more! Hyundai has equipped more than 50 dealerships, spread over 30 cities, with 7.2 kW AC chargers. That’s the same one which Hyundai provides to all Kona Electric customers. Using it, the EV can charge completely in 6 hours 10 minutes. Owners from four major metros – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai – also benefit from Hyundai’s V2V (Vehicle To Vehicle) charging service. Apart from that, the company also provides portable chargers in case of an emergency via the roadside assistance partner.

The Kona Electric has impressive stats too! The single electric motor, which gets the juices from a 39.2kWh battery, generates 134bhp/395Nm. As per ARAI, the range on a single charge is up to 452km. That’s more than any other EV presently available in the country. The battery can replenish itself up to 80 per cent in less than an hour. That’s possible only when using the recommended fast charger.

Presently, the Hyundai Kona Electric is available in two variants – Premium and Premium Dual Tone. The former costs Rs 23.76 lakh, whereas the latter wears a price tag of Rs 23.95 lakh. In India, it has just one direct rival – the MG ZS EV.
