Launched in October 2018, the reincarnated Santro has been bringing in good numbers for its maker. Post the discontinuation of the Eon, the Santro became Hyundai’s entry-level model in India. The South Korean carmaker has now rejigged Santro’s line-up to make its portfolio a bit more streamlined. The list of major changes includes the axing of D-Lite trim and renaming of Era trim to Era Executive. Also, the Sportz AMT and Magna MT variants now get more features as standard.

In the process of renaming Era to Era Executive trim, Hyundai has also taken away a couple of important features. The convenience of a power outlet and rear AC vents, both of which were on offer in the Era trim, are not available in the renamed trim. Another noteworthy exclusion from the entire Santro range is the Swacch Can.

Over to the Magna MT variant. It now comes with a 2-din audio system with FM/AM/Bluetooth/USB, a multifunction steering wheel, support for Hyundai iblue (audio remote application), a micro antenna and two front speakers. Lastly, the Sportz AMT variant. It now gets a rear-view camera with display in the audio system, front airbag for the passenger and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters. While safety features like a driver’s airbag, ABS with EBD and child safety door lock remain standard across the line-up, rear parking sensors and speed-sensing auto door lock are reserved for the range-topping Asta trim.

The Santro’s price list, which earlier started close to Rs 3.9 lakh, now starts at Rs 4.15 lakh. The most expensive variant of the lot is the Sportz CNG which carries the same price tag of Rs 5.68 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). In India, the Hyundai Santro competes directly with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR as well as with the Datsun Go.
