It was back in January this year when Ford India introduced the BS6-compliant (Bharat Stage 6) range of the EcoSport. And now, the company has added a tasty new variant option in the line-up. Dubbed as the EcoSport Titanium AT, it wears a price tag of Rs 10.66 lakh, taxes excluded. In other words, the new addition costs Rs 90,000 less than the only other automatic option in the EcoSport range. Here’s how the price list looks like:

The highlighted cell in the table above is where the newly introduced derivative sits. For the record, prices for almost all variants have increased by Rs 13,500 when compared to the ones from January 2020.

Under the bonnet of the EcoSport AT is the combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 6-speed torque converter. With that setup, the subcompact SUV has 120bhp/149Nm on tap. Although the convenience of two-pedal arrangement will pay the dividend, especially in start/stop traffic conditions, at 14.7kmpl, the claimed mileage isn’t that impressive.

In terms of features, the EcoSport in Titanium trim packs automatic climate control, a rear-view camera, push-button start/stop, paddle shifters, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system mated to a six-speaker sound system and embedded navigation system. The package also includes projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, a multi-function steering wheel, two 12-volt accessory sockets and roof rails. And yes, there’s FordPass which ropes in some connected features such as starting, stopping, locking and unlocking the car remotely.

As standard, Ford offers three years/unlimited km warranty package with the EcoSport. In India, the Ford EcoSport competes with a range of potent products. The list includes Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV500 and the recently updated Honda WR-V. If you were in the market to purchase a sub-4 metre SUV, which one would you pick?
