There’s no other way of saying this – the Kwid has been nothing short of a blockbuster for Renault in India. The model has helped the French brand strengthen roots in the country’s notorious automobile space. Recently, Kwid’s lifetime sales counter surpassed the 3.5-lakh mark in India. Now, the company has introduced something called the Neotech edition of the model in question. Before going forward, here’s how the updated price list looks like:

From the table above, you can see that the Neotech edition derivatives sit above the RXL-marked variants. And the price difference between them is Rs 30,000. So, what do you get for your money? For the exterior, one can choose between two dual-tone finishes – Zanskar Blue (body) and Moonlight Silver (roof), or the other way around. The Neotech edition also comes with 3D decals on the C-pillars, wheel covers finished in Volcano Grey and Neotech door claddings. Inside, the fabric seats boast blue inserts with equally-blue stitching, chrome-draped AMT dial, an 8.0-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a USB socket for front occupants.

The obvious question – is it worth the extra amount? Yes, definitely. The Neotech treatment not only offers better value but also injects some level of exclusivity. Sure, you miss out on some embellishments when compared to the RXT or RXT (O) trim levels. But, there’s nothing too vital in that list. On the mechanical front, there is nothing new to report. Both petrol engines, the 0.8-litre and the 1.0-litre, remain unchanged with 53bhp/72Nm and 67bhp/91Nm as outputs, respectively. And, Renault’s offering all three engine-transmission combinations with the Neotech Kwid.

Earlier this week, CarSaar reported that Renault India has given an upward revision of prices to the Kwid and Triber. The Kwid in Neotech spec arrives just in time for the full-blown festive period. Expect Renault to soon introduce a similar version of the Triber as well. As for the sub-4 metre SUV, that will arrive some in the first quarter of next year.
