Tata Motors, in partnership with its sister firm – Tata Power, has inaugurated eight EV charging stations within a week. Out of the lot, three have gone live in Jaipur and two in Ahmedabad. Apart from those, one each has opened in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Ludhiana. All feature the CCS2 type chargers, typically found in hotels, workplaces and other commercial areas. Here’s where they are placed:

In Jaipur, Tata Motors has now four EV charging stations and eight in Rajasthan. The state of Gujarat now has eighteen charging stations, five of which are in Ahmedabad. Ludhiana now has four out of the six such facilities in Punjab. In Odisha, the count has risen to four. Tata Motors says that the newly opened charging stations house fast chargers that can replenish Nexon EV’s battery from zero to eighty per cent in one hour. Using Tata Power EZ Charge application, the customers can find and pay for and use Tata’s EV charging facilities.

With the new charging stations up and running, Tata Motors has now 456 charging points in 92 cities and on busy intercity routes across India. So, the 4,000+ Nexon EV owners can use them and eradicate the naughty problem of range anxiety.

For the record, the Nexon EV costs between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 16.56 lakh. It is currently the bestselling electric vehicle in the country. It is available in three variants, two of which received an upward price revision by Rs 16,000 recently. Powering the zero-emissions subcompact SUV is an electric motor that produces 127bhp/245Nm. That, as per Tata Motors, is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 9.9 seconds. The powerplant draws its juices from a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged using slow and fast chargers. The Nexon EV can travel up to 312km on a single charge. That figure is certified by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).
