Porsche has just introduced a new version of the Panamera – the Platinum Edition – in India. It is priced from Rs 1.71 crore. As per the carmaker, “it is a perfect mixture of luxury, comfort features and exclusive design highlights”. In other words, the Platinum Edition ropes in some bespoke styling elements and an enhanced list of creature comforts.

So, what does it offer exactly? Some elements are finished in satin gloss platinum on the outside, including the “Porsche” lettering, model designation, air outlet grilles on either side and the 21-inch Exclusive Design Sport wheels. Complementing them are side window trims and tailpipes, both finished in high-gloss black. Open the doors, and you’ll spot brushed aluminium door sill guards with “Platinum Edition” branding. Besides that, there’s black brushed aluminium trim throughout the cabin. Also, all four headrests flaunt embossed Porsche crests.

Pretty special, then. Not so soon, because there’s more. As stated above, the Panamera Platinum Edition comes with more creature comforts. The list includes LED Matrix headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, 14-way heated comfort seats and adaptive air suspension Porsche Active Suspension Management. And for those who really like to enjoy music on the go, the four-door saloon also features a 14-speaker, 710-watt Bose sound system. Also on offer is a panoramic roof system with tinted glass and privacy windows.

The Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition made its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, 2021. Depending on the market, the Platinum Edition package is available for the Panamera, Panamera 4 and Panamera 4 e-Hybrid. However, in Europe, Porsche offers it in the corresponding Sport Turismo models. In India, Porsche offers the car in four variants – Panamera, Panamera GTS, Panamera Turbo S and Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid. Of course, it goes without saying; the Platinum Edition pack will incur a noticeable amount over the standard saloon. But the question is – if it were your money, would you spend that extra to have something different? Or, would you instead dive deep into Porsche’s customisation options and do it up yourself?
